❄️ Helping Neighbors Through Today's Snow Emergency

Move Your Cars Off the Street Today, Share Off-Street Parking Space, Get a Ride or Give a Ride, and Check in on Your Neighbors

🚗 On-Street Parking Ban Begins at 8:00PM Tonight — How Neighbors are Helping Neighbors

If you have a car parked on a public street within the City of Ann Arbor, be aware that the City has called a snow emergency and temporary parking ban beginning at 8:00PM tonight. The City has more information on their On-Street Snow Parking Ban page, including free parking options.

This is an unusual situation and it calls for neighborly action. Here are ways we can help:

  1. If you have available off-street parking like a driveway, please consider offering your neighbors a space today. Make arrangements for moving cars as needed. Remember, it’s only temporary.

  2. More Neighbors A2 has quickly set up a free ride program from the parking decks that the City has made available during the emergency. You can volunteer to provide rides on Sunday and/or Monday, or use the program yourself. See images below for details. Bottom line: Text (734) 328-1705 to either sign up as a volunteer or to arrange a ride for yourself or someone else.

🧣 More Ways to Care for Neighbors During the Storm

  1. Check in on your neighbors, especially those who might be vulnerable. Does everyone in your neighborhood have heat, light, and food? Look out for neighbors who might live alone, are elderly, or don’t always have enough money to pay for food or utilities bills.

  2. Clear snow from sidewalks, walkways, steps, and porches, especially for neighbors who are unable to do it themselves.

📤️ Reminder: Contact Council about Zoning Changes

Our most recent newsletter included a request that you encourage City Council to recognize the urgency of the housing crisis and adopt a resolution calling for rezonings beginning this year. If you haven’t sent your email yet, make your voice heard this week! See the link below for details.

Wishing all our neighbors safety and warmth during this cold winter.
